My So Called Scarf-Malabrigo. Shawl Collar Cardigan from Jo Sharp Knit Issue One in a very soft brown alpaca...a very snuggly fall cardigan! Two soft fall knits...and today I ordered some olive tweedy yarn from Webs (Valley yarns English Tweed) for the Cobblestone Pullover for Hubby that I plan to knit this fall for him. It is dk weight so I am hoping to get gauge or at least close to it using 6 or 7 needles. We shall see. I saw another blogger using this yarn and it looked lovely. It is what my Hubby picked out. Classic Elite Skye tweed is getting more difficult to find, especially colors that are more manly. Too bad it is discontinued. It is beautiful yarn.

What have I been knitting lately? I have finished, well almost, the Salina...done minus the cuffs. I finished my third Clapotis in purpley reddish Malabrigo. I finished one Hedera, and have begun the Shetland Triangle for the third time...I had begun it using some Rowan 4-ply, but I like the Malabrigo Laceweight. I just wanted to update what I have been up to other than loving my house!

I added 2 inches of the pink and green Malabrigo from the sleeves to lenthen...and I am glad I did!
I love this sweater! It is just the right length and I think the pinkish edges looks cute, kind of like another sweater sticking out from under. I will definitely make this sweater again. Have a happy weekend! The end of my spring break is near.

I love a top down raglan and a super Wicked pattern! What a simple, lovely, and very quick pattern. I have seen a few of these and loved the pattern! I had to have one. And a simple sweater pattern is always a good thing. I am also working on another pair of Jaywalkers. Love that pattern, too. Spring Break is here and I am going to knit!

I have finally finished a sweater...and this is one that has been otn for almost a year! A Sunrise Circle Jacket and I loooove it! It is a little bit roomy, but it will be great in the winter! I am still working on Joy...I have the back finished and am knitting away on the first side. I will post pics when finished!

Fingerless Mitts

I have been wanting to knit some fingerless mitts but was waiting for the right pattern...and here is the one I chose (courtesy of Purl Friday). I am knitting from the stash and these take a little less than two skeins of Noro Kureyon. Warmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Finished Poms

This weekend, we went to Patriot's Point in Charleston, S.C. We spent two nights on the U.S.S. Yorktown (CV-10) Aircraft carrier. Silly us, we forgot our camera. Our den leader for the cubscouts will get some pictures to us. The boys had a blast, the sleeping arrangements were tight, especially for the boys, sleeping on bunks that were four high! It was cold being surrrounded by thirty thousand tons of steel in the middle of January on the bay in Charleston, but the scouts had a great time touring the submarine and destroyer along side the aircraft carrier. We will definitely be re-visiting in warmer weather.

I am finally feeling the knitting again. For a few weeks, I have just not been *into* knitting. Fear not, it is back! I finished Dustin's scarf, have been working on Demi, finished my Pom's...and yes, that is another Clapotis that I have started. I love the mindlessness of the pattern and I actually love the way this pattern turns out with the Malabrigo...so warm and soft, I had to make another, using the stash, of course! Joy is on the backburner right now...I want to concentrate on Demi, since it is a tedious knit, I want to keep plowing ahead for fear that I won't finish it!

I have been working on the Joy Cardigan and the Besotted scarf in the evenings after knitting a few rows on the Demi pullover. The Demi is one that I can knit a few rows and be done with it for a day, it is sooo tedious. I have completed a second pattern repeat, but did not want to post another picture of it. Maybe when I am done with the piece I am working on. The Besotted scarf is for my oldest son who really wants a hand-knit scarf from his mommy. I am using Malabrigo in the Alpine Pearl color that he picked out this summer when our LYS was having a big sale. I like the pattern- cute little X's and O's-what I call *spread the love* scarf!

Here is what I have been working on since Thanksgiving.... The Demi pullover! It is one tough knit...really must pay attention to the pattern and chart...it is driving me crazy, but I think it is going to be worth it all in the end!

I have been too busy for blogging lately, with a new student in my class (super sweet! but a lot more work with 7 of them!), Christmas shopping and planning, and just plain tired out! I will be working on this Demi for a while, I have a feeling. I also had to frog Joy, thinking I had made a mistake, and realized later that I did not make a mistake...oh, well. Knitting is therapy, so if you have to re-do a knit, it is just extra therapy! Well, I am off to go roller-skating with my youngest...last Monday was bowling night, all for Cub Scouts!

Second Clapotis is done! The Malabrigo is super soft and not itchy at all! This will be a great warm wrap for the sweet lady receiving it!

This is the back of Myrtle, almost finished. I really love this yarn and the simple stockinette stitch along with the seed stitch...beautiful, simple. Love. I have also begun the sweet simple yet elegant sweater Joy...I only have one thing to say...sweet. And I think it may take at least a year to whip it up. Teeny weensy, itsy bitsy. But lovely and sweet. I am one happy knitter.

I knit a swatch last night for this sweater. I loved this sweater the first time I saw it, I love the cables...I am finally not intimidated by the pattern, after knitting many patterns from charts, I am ready to tackle this one! I am using some Tahki Donegal Tweed from my stash in this yellowish-greenish color yarn with yellow and brown flecks of color (color #838, discontinued)! The yarn is a little thin at times, kind of like Noro's silk garden, but I think it will be the perfect yarn for this sweater! It is not too bulky, will be kind of airy. I am going to try it and see. The gauge is a little off, but I think it will be o.k. if I knit the 38 1/2. We will see.

I do like the way the Koigu is turning out with this pattern. Yay! I am going to knit this pattern in an almost solid color next and may go down to 1.5 or 1 size needles. This is a very enjoyable knit and very pretty!

I finished the Child's First Socks on Tuesday night. They are my favorite socks by far! I love the pattern and they fit so perfect! I will be making more of this pattern!

I started the infamous *P* socks in an interesting Koigu colorway...I love the colors in the yarn, but I am not so sure it is right for the pattern. Maybe I will frog it and knit a plain sock with it. I do love the turquoise blue, yellow, purpley-pink, and black colors all together! Makes for an interesting knit!

Berry Sunrise Surprise

After nearly 6 months of sitting in the dark closet, here it is making a comeback...the Sunrise Circle Jacket. Upon finishing the Central Park Hoodie, I felt guilty for abandoning this sweet, although intimidating knit. It is a very simple knit; the hemming afterwards is what scares me. I am going to tackle it with a positive attitude...once I have gotten that far. Here is the left sleeve and front in the works.

I am finished, and this sweater will always be known to me as the "help me quit smoking, gotta knit and not smoke" hoodie! It is just right in size, but I do regret not putting in the button holes and buttons. I think I will get a sweater pin just to keep the top together when wearing it. I wore it to work this morning and it was snuggly soft and warm!

Here is my Central Park Hoodie almost complete(the sleeves are blocked and ready to be added)! I just bound off the left hand ribbing...YAY! I will begin on the right side tonight...sooon I will be wearing this lovely sweater, just in time for the cooler weather...I love, love, love this sweater...the yarn is soooo snuggly soft and the angora really sticks out a little and looks awesome, not to mention the beautiful different flecks of color all over the yarn! I am also working on my socks, that is what I really did all week...I will post pics soon of them! I really am dedicating this weekend to this wonderful hoodie!

I got mail today!! Michael bought me some Tahki New Tweed in Navy this weekend from someone Destashing...it is beautiful! I plan on making a vest with it, I really want to find a pattern for a cute cabled vest, since I am addicted to cables lately. I purchased the Patons Street Smart pattern book the other weekend and am planning on knitting the cute cabled hoodie on the front in Peacock color, and I am going to knit the Must Have Cardigan in the Natural mix color. Soooo much knitting I want to do! I stayed home today with a sick son and thought I would get some knitting done...I really did not get alot done, between cleaning and looking after Jack, but I am to my heel on the sock I am working on! Maybe I will have a pair of socks done before too long! I really want to get all of my socks done this month, the ones that don't have mates.

Well, I sure have a lot of sock yarn to choose from...I organized my sock yarn a few weeks ago and wound some skeins into cute little yummy yarn cakes with my swift and ball winder...what fun! I started the Child's first sock with some of my stash...they are turning out quite awesome, too bad my camera doesn't capture the pattern too good...I will try to take more pics in the daytime.

I have been busy knitting a Booga Bag for my MIL's birthday, which was today...and I am finished!! I am felting it right now...hopefully, it will be blocked and ready to give to her tomorrow evening! Happy Birthday, MOM-IN- LAW!

I have many, many other projects OTN that I have been working on little by little...nothing worth a pic, tho...I am beginning the sleeves of my cabled hoodie and hopefully I will be finishing that sooooon!! I have many socks in the works that I must finish before I join any sock of the month clubs...and I am really wanting to join one, such as Sundara Petals Collection(which opens up on September 12 for new members), Rockin' Sock Club(Blue Moon Fiber Arts) will be opening soon for 2007...so, I MUST knit all the socks I have currently so that I won't feel bad about joining these clubs...oh, what am I talking about, I won't feel bad either way :o)))))))) I will post a pic later to show the bag felted! Chow for now! Oh, yeah, it has been four weeks and 1 day since my DH and I have had a smoke! Yay for us!!

This is a very easy, quick knit...I am a little worried about the gauge...I am right on what the pattern calls for, but seems to be much smaller...I will have to block each piece before assembly at the end...I hope that makes a difference. I cast on for the left front side and it, too, seems very small. The ribbing is what makes it bunch up tight and when stretched, I am able to get it to the correct size.

The "Quit smoking" cabled hoodie cardigan is coming along slowly...I started back to work Monday so I have not been knitting as much. I am almost done with the back...been a Non-smoker for a week now(well, 1 week, 11 hours 15 seconds according to my SilkQuit meter...298 cigs "not" smoked between the two of us)...and I am having a really bad day today...but I will keep knitting :) Meg-will get you pattern soon...Michael has been staying home with the boys this week a few days...will get to it next week!

Helps keep me from thinking about bad habits. This is the progress since yesterday...I have been knitting in between running errands(in MY car, since we never smoked in there, and I really want to stay away from anything that has to do with cigarettes...this is only the third day of quitting, and it is HARD...but I will not go back!!!)and will be knitting into the wee hours tonight, I feel sure...I have not been able to sleep very well, and boy will it be hard to get back to school on Monday!!! But, it will be sooo good to help with my NEW and improved self!!

They all happened this past Saturday...My hubby built his Star Wars
Star Destroyer Lego model that he has been wanting for so long...yes,it is almost as big as our kitchen table, and he put this thing together in about 10 hours on Saturday night...while he did the modeling, I did my knitting...did a lot on my jaywalker sock and started a scarf! Michael and I also started taking Wellbutrin to stop smoking...the medicine makes your cigarettes taste horrible and leaves you feeling nauseated...hopefully, these things will cause us to HATE smoking...forever.

Here is my latest creation in the works...the beautiful Clapotis in Noro Sakura color #5...I loooove the dropped stitches...they are sooo much fun! I will be making more of these, probably in worsted weight yarn to make it a little bit bigger so that it can be worn as a wrap or scarf. My friend Lilly already put an order in for one. This yarn is fun to work with, so many colors and neat textures with the unusual "wrapped" yarn every so often.
My fiance' has once again proven what a great eye he has for yarn, he picked out this yarn and the color...he is such a great support for my hobby...I think he has as much fun going to the yarn store as I do...well, maybe not, but he does enjoy watching me with my knitting hobby and loves to see me happy! What a sweetie!! I am sooooo lucky!!
The countdown to marriage is on!! Just a little over a week...Wow, it is hard to believe! I am the luckiest woman on earth and can't wait to be married!

What have I been up to lately??

I have been knitting every night, getting ready for the end of the school year, and WEDDINGS!! This is my fiance', Michael, my two boys, and I at Michael's brothers wedding a couple of weeks ago. What fun!! And to think that We will be married in a little more than two weeks. We are getting married on June 6...our date is 06/06/06! Never going to forget that one!

Here is my 6 year old and I waiting patiently for the wedding to begin...Michael was in the wedding so we all had to be there 2 hours before the wedding...the boys were soooo patient!!

This is the Streakers Shrug that I just finished blocking...knit in Noro Silk Garden #213 and it is absolutely gorgeous!! I finished the first shrug using the Streakers about a month ago...will post pics soon. But I like it in the Noro!! I have worn the first shrug so much, it is my favorite thing so far that I have knit!! I had to make another, and had some Noro I was going to use for socks...decided it would make a better shrug! LOOOOOVE it!! I will finish the lace cuffs and seaming tomorrow and will post pics for sure.

This is an awesome Booga bag that I knit and felted about 2 months ago...and have been using it ever since!! My first felted bag and will have to knit another soon, I love it! I have to make Michael's mom one for her birthday soon. She really loves it!

This is me knitting...I hold my arms up when knitting...weird but it works! I think I do it because it is more comfy on my back...I usually knit in bed, because I can prop up against the wall and sit very straight...when I knit sitting on the couch, I can't lean back because I need to be sitting straight or my back will hurt. I guess we all have our secrets!
I have also started on the Clapotis by Kate Gilbert, same designer for the Sunrise Circle Jacket, and am knitting it in the new yarn by Noro...mostly synthetic with a little wool and silk and it is turning out lovely. Will post pics soon...Finished one of my Fishladder socks and began the other...I have been busy!

Sweater Accessories

Sunrise Circle Jacket will have buttons!
Yesterday I was at Joann's to pick up some craft items for school, and happened to check out their buttons...and my fiance' helped me pick out these for the jacket. They are perfect, a little bit of gray to go with the gray flecks. Can't wait to see the finished project! So far, I have three projects "on the needles"...the sunrise jacket, streakers shrug, and fishladder socks.

Streakers Shrug...wow, progress! Working like crazy to get this done...more than half way there!! Yay!! I am binding off stiches now at the arms, I think I could be done with this this weekend.

Easter Pins made today in my class Here is what I did today! I made these Easter pins with my students...how about some chick buttons for my sunrise circle jacket?? HaHa. The students were excited to wear their cute pins today.

Streakers Shrug...it has arms!

Well, this is as far as I went as of Sunday. I LOOOOOOOVE the striping that is going on...much more even than the first one I had started. I think the size is about right, maybe won't be too big. Hope not...otherwise, it might be called........................ Streakers Batwing Shrug :0 Anyway, I like the way it is knitting up, happy with it! We will see in a few days... School was back in session today, so back to the slow go at knitting for a while. Only have until May 24, tho. I am itching to get back to the Sunrise Circle Jacket!! Happy Knitting!!

Sunrise Circle Jacket

I am now officially a Knitalong Groupie! I was accepted into the Sunrise Circle Jacket knitalong! YAY!! I must say, I am really excited to be a part of a big knitting group...I look forward to finishing my Jacket and seeing everyone else accomplish their own. It is neat to see all the different colors and yarns everyone is using. I am looking forward to all the new adventures I will undertake with being a Knitting Groupie.

I did not get any knitting done today...no, instead my hubby-to-be and I began the huge task of Spring Cleaning. We put all the plants out, went to Home Depot and bought a huge new home for our Split leaf philly, picked up some storage containers for winter clothes(and bags for my knitting stash...it is now all in one place...Under the entire bed!) So we went through our stuff, cleaned out some closets, threw some stuff out, more stuff to the garage for garage sale...to be continued tomorrow.

To Frog, or not to Frog.....

Streakers Shrug

In the beginning...well, the second beginning of the Streakers Shrug...I loooove the yarn in Oriental streak...but this skein has some major thick and thin issues. I am trying to decide weather or not to frog it and begin again with another skein...but my hubby to be says to leave it, that the "bumps" caused by the thicker parts of the yarn give it character. I guess he is right. I so want to get this done, I am going to keep going! I just hope that making this in the bigger size doesn't end up way tooooo big on me! We will see, this knits up fast. Then it is on to the Felted Hobo bag. And the Sunrise Circle Jacket.

I really want to begin working on the Felted Hobo bag that I will also use the Streakers wool for, but first things first, Shrug! I also have some socks on the needles to finish...Fish Ladder socks by Mountain Colors in which I am using Mountain Colors Weavers Wool in Wild Raspberry...beautiful! And not to forget my Sunrise Circle Jacket, in which I am using Karabella Soft Tweed in Berry...a light pink with gray and white flecks throughout! I have a lot of knitting to do!!

Newbie Blogger

Well, here I go on a new adventure on the internet. After countless hours of surfing the web and visiting all of the Knitters Blogs, I have decided to take on one of my own. With a lot of help from my brainy computer nerd fiance'. This will be fun...and I will spend countless hours on my own Blog Spot, in between knitting of course...while my fiance' spends countless hours on his computer playing video games. What a perfect arrangement we have :)

I have been knitting the Sunrise Circle Jacket from Interweave Knits and am having lots of fun...I even emailed Kate with a problem I was having and she told me to visit the Sunrisecirclejacket blog...I am thinking about joining! What a fun thing to do, knit along with others and getting to see all of the finished projects!

I have also been knitting the Streakers Shrug out of the same mag...and had to tear it out...tooooo small, so I have ordered more of the yarn **yikes, expensive, but oooooh so worth it**and am making the shrug a little bigger. The La Lana Wools Streakers! is absolutely a dream to work with!! I highly recommend it to any knitter. I am having a great affair with this yarn...and am looking forward to wearing it!
